How quickly will you respond?

What happens after I send a message?

We read your description and confirm whether your situation falls within our practice areas. If it does, we will outline what the next step would be — with no obligation on your part.

What types of enquiries do you accept?

Property transactions, inheritance and estate matters, and lease or tenancy questions. We focus on matters arising in Japan, particularly in and around Kyoto.

Is there a fee for an initial enquiry?

There is no charge for an initial message or for us to assess whether we can help. Fees are discussed and agreed in writing before any work begins.

Can I write in Japanese?

Yes. We are equally comfortable corresponding in Japanese or English. Please write in whichever is more natural for you.

What if my matter is outside your areas?

We will tell you plainly and, where we can, suggest where you might look for appropriate assistance. We do not keep you waiting for an answer we already know.
